Have you ever driven your car, or someone else's, when it rolled past 100,000 miles? Maybe even driven a car past 200,000 or even 300,000? All of those are achievements that speak not only to the quality of the vehicle, but also to its maintenance and upkeep. Well imagine driving your car to one million miles! That is one man from Maine is on his way to doing in his 1990 Honda Accord. This is absolutely amazing, and Honda has decided to follow him as he continues to come closer and closer to his goal. Today, his total is just above 990,000 miles. According to Million Mile Joe's statistics he drives about 62,000 a year. meaning with 10,000 miles left he should finish his goal in just under two months. Who knows, maybe even sooner since Joe may get excited that his goal is so close!
Doing out some math to find out how long Joe has spent in his Honda Accord, I found that if he drove the 1,000,000 miles on the highway at 60 miles an hour it would break down to:
Hours - 16,666.667
Days - 694.444
Weeks - 99.2
Months - 23.1
Years - 1.93
Now that is just time spent in the car driving at 60 miles an hour. There are definitely times that Joe has been driving in town, caught in bad weather, been stuck in traffic, or just decided to take it slow. So these numbers are definitely lower than his actual time. But it gives some great perspective on the commitment that this man has put into this goal. And the love he has for his Accord.
